Parksville Beach Festival August 8th, 2008 - September 1st, 2008 Awarded Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association for 2008. Gather the family for 3 weeks of fun in the sun at the Annual Parksville Beach Festival featuring the Canadian Open Sandsculpting Competition August 8-10. The pro's and amateurs have 23 hours to scoop, sculpt, pound, and tranform earth into art. The sculptures remain on display until September 1. The competition starts on Friday Aug 8th with the sculptors preparing their plots and forming basic designs. The site opens to the public on Saturday afternoon and judging will take place Sunday Aug 10th at 3pm and prizes will be awarded at 5 pm. Once the competition is complete the magnificent sculptures remain on exhibition until Mon. Sept 1st. Completely organized and run by volunteers, the Parksville Canadian Open Sandsculpting Competition and Exhibition attracted in excess of 65,000 visitors from all over the world and had an $8 million economic impact on the Oceanside area.
