Parksville man charged in knife attack near an Errington home

• A Parksville man faces an assault with a weapon charge following an April 23 knife attack in Errington.
Police say Christopher Stewart Johnston, 28, was arrested at approximately 3:50 a.m. near a residence on Turner Road for alleged assault with a kitchen knife of another male during a dispute. The male victim suffered minor lacerations to his face. Johnston is remanded in custody until a scheduled court appearance.
• The old Errington elementary school on Grafton Ave. was without power Tuesday, April 22 after an attempt to steal copper wire from hydro lines that service the building.
"The alarm went off at around 1:30 p.m.,"said Cpl. Garry Cox. "Someone must have cut the hydro to steal the wire."
Cox said there was little evidence at the scene and no witnesses.
• An excavator at a building site on the corner of Jensen Ave. and Corfield Street had its window broken. The damage was reported at 7:25 a.m on April 27. Police said someone also placed traffic cones on the street in the way of traffic.
