WEB EXTRA: Coombs Rodeo Grounds to get facelift

COOMBS - Service Canada is ponying up $68,677 to help repair and restore the Coombs Rodeo Grounds.
MP James Lunney announced the funding Wednesday, on behalf of Monte Solberg, minister responsible for Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC). The money will pay the wages of four displaced workers, who will be upgrading current an developing new, employable skills.
"The Government of Canada is committed to providing individuals with meaningful work experiences that will help them obtain on-going employment,"said Lunney in a media release. "Projects like this one will provide construction experience to participants, allowing them to gain the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to find work."
The Coombs Hilliers Recreational Organization (CHRO) is also contributing funding to the project.
"The CHRO is pleased to partner with the Government of Canada on the Coombs Rodeo Grounds Restoration Project," said Cliff Raymer, president. "Our contributions will provide valuable work experience for the participants, with the end result being an exciting space that the whole community can enjoy."
