Cops drop the puck for street hockey

In honour of Youth Week, and with an eye to some good clean fun, RCMP Const. Jeff Scott is organizing a community street hockey game.
Scott said youth will be invited to play alongside school administration, staff and a contingent representing local police.
The puck (or orange ball, as the case may be) drops at 3:30 p.m. May 8 on the tennis courts of Ballenas Secondary School, with play expected to continue until 6 p.m.
"There won't be any teams or prizes or anything. People can come out to get involved and play for 15 or 20 minutes than we'll switch it around. We'll get a couple of games going,"said Scott. "It's the first year we've put an RCMP event together for Youth Week. We'll see how it goes.
Scott said Ballenas principal Rollie Koop is already on board with mention of the possibility of a barbecue to heighten the festive atmosphere. He added participants need not be concerned with sticks, goalie equipment or other gear, as that's all been taken care of.
"This will be a fun game where youth can come out and participate. No score keeping just some fun back and forth,"said Scott.
